Fun Facts About American History

The shortest inaugural address in U.S. history was 135 words and given in 1793 by George Washington. His dentures hurt, and he wanted to get it over with.

George Washington was also quite an alcohol manufacturer. In 1798 alone, he produced 11,000 gallons of whiskey.

Benjamin Franklin invented the lightning rod, but he did not stop there. He’s also credited for the urinary catheter.

There have been eight left-handed presidents:  James A. Garfield, Herbert Hoover, Harry S. Truman, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama.
